Algebra 2: 12/10 thru 12/15

Monday - Factoring Polynomials
ALWAYS STEP ZERO: scan to see if there is something to pull out from everything
Remember Special Factoring for Cubes: Sum of Cubes and Difference of Cubes
Factor by Grouping
All Factors SET EQUAL TO ZERO give you solutions
The number of solutions = The degree (highest exponent that you see)

Action Plan for Finding Solutions – Quiz 12/14/12

Step 1: Use your calculator to find your FIRST solution – you choose.
Step 2: Put that solution in the “solution box” in synthetic division and verify that it is a solution by getting a remainder zero.
Use the numbers at the bottom to get the coefficients of the function that is “left over” – it is one degree less than the original.
Step 3: Factor the remaining parabola, or repeat steps 1 and 2 until you get a parabola to factor.
