Monday

CW: 6-11 and 6-12

NEW NOTES/STUDY GUIDE - CONGRUENCE

WEDNESDAY'S WORKSHEETs: (page 2 is bonus)
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/40810525/congruencewksheet.pdf

What proves congruence?
·         SSS – all three sides are the same in both triangles
·         SAS – two sides are the same, the angle between them is the same
·         ASA – two angles are the same, the side between them is the same
·         AAS – two angles are the same, a side not between them is the same
·         HL    - in a right triangle – the hypotenuse and leg are the same

o   In all of these, any “S” means EQUAL sides.
o   Any “A”, like in similarity, means equal angles.

Action Plan for Finding Solutions – Quiz 12/14/12

Step 1: Use your calculator to find your FIRST solution – you choose.
Step 2: Put that solution in the “solution box” in synthetic division and verify that it is a solution by getting a remainder zero.
Use the numbers at the bottom to get the coefficients of the function that is “left over” – it is one degree less than the original.
Step 3: Factor the remaining parabola, or repeat steps 1 and 2 until you get a parabola to factor.

Introduction to Chapter 4 - Vocabulary Notes
CW: 4-1 thru 4-5
HW: 4-6 thru 4-8

Tuesday 10/30 - Slope Ratios and Angles (Table)

 *KEY CONCEPT*
If two angles are COMPLEMENTARY (they add up to 90), their slope ratios (rise/run) are RECIPROCALS.
Also, the TWO "other" angles in a right triangle (the two angles that are not the right angle) are always complementary. This makes sense that their slope ratios are reciprocals because they are referring to the same slope triangle, just "seeing" the slope from an upside-down perspective.
